Adverbs on the move: investigating publisher application of corpus research on recent language change to ELT coursebook development

While the role of corpus linguistics (cl) in language teaching and learning continues to evolve, its use industry remains somewhat unclear. The specific ways which elt publishers cl research inform materials development are under-studied, meaning that it is not known whether being used by full potential. This study investigates a major international publisher conducting into recent change adverbs casual spoken British English sharing findings with editors from publisher. Through our analysis, we find evidence changes frequent adverbs. Following conducted in-depth interviews review they subsequently produced using findings. In so doing, some effective corpora but reveal limitations current prevent employing more effectively.
